Description

Situated on the north shore of Lake Sutherland, this property is a great "home base" for those exploring the North Olympic Peninsula, hiking the Elwah Valley or just looking to enjoy swimming, kayaking and fishing on beautiful Lake Sutherland. Nestled in the Olympic Mountains. Easy drive to Ocean Beaches and other points of interest like Salt Creek for low tide pool viewings, Makah Museum is a must see, Cape Flattery most NW point in the continental US, Ozette trail is a wonderful hike starting at Lake Ozette and to the Ocean then back up to Lake Ozette (9 miles). Also two entries to the Olympic National Park are near by, Sol duc Hot Springs and Hoh Rain Forest. Lake Cresent is a beautiful lake with an historic lodge for dining and a fun gift shop.

This old lake cabin has been recently renovated - updating the kitchen, bathroom and main living area. The upstairs bedroom has a queen-size bed and picture windows presenting a beautiful, wide view of the lake. Wake up in this spacious loft-like bedroom and the serenity of the lake before you. There is a flat screen smart TV in the bedroom, with a DVD player.  You can enjoy your favorite movies by logging into your Netflix, Hulu or other online TV account, or by bringing your favorite DVD movies.  There are a few DVDs at the cabin for your selection, too.

Downstairs on the main floor, there is also a double-size sleeper sofa set up as a permanent bed, with privacy draping, to accommodate guests for sleeping. The main floor living space is open-concept. The kitchen is updated with beautiful counters and an built-in electric stove top. There is a toaster oven and microwave, but no other baking oven. There is a drip coffee make and tea kettle for your favorite hot beverages.  We provide dishes, pots, pans, cups, glasses, serving dishes and utensils.  Please be careful about putting anything on the shelf above the glass topped stove! Bed linens, towels, soap, shampoo and some cleaning supplies are also provided.

The lake side of the room is banked by windows so that you always have a view of the lake.  There is a large evergreen just to the left of the view.  It is a favorite roost of one of the resident eagles at Lake Sutherland.  The dining table sits in front of these windows for dining with a view.  There is a love seat, adjacent to the dining space, creating a wonderful place relax and enjoy a good book or just stare out onto the lake.  Please note that there are caution signs on the deck railing, please no climbing or leaning on railing.

The trails to the house and down to the dock at the lake are clear, but steep.  Some agility is required.  On the dock there are 3 kayaks for guest use.  Paddles and life vests are in the boat house.  The paddle boat on the right side of the dock is NOT functional.  Please don't try to use it.  Also the right side of the dock is for boat storage only ---safe, but not super stable for hanging out on.  The left side of the dock can be used for hanging out and fishing.  The dock sits right in front of a deep fishing hole. Wanting a fishing get away?  Lake Sutherland is a great place to catch Kokanee (land-locked salmon). No live bait is allowed for fishing on Lake Sutherland, so bring your power bait or "wedding bells", "cowbells" or "spoons". Please be advised: All water activities are at your own risk.

This cabin was excellent. It has a great view of the lake from the balcony and access to the lake from a private dock. There are even kayaks you can use. It's about 15-20 minutes from "civilization," so you can go to a fair amount of restaurants and shops to buy groceries and such. But it's also a few minutes from state parks, though depending on what trail you're wanting to get to, you might drive for a while in the park itself to get there. The cabin was also extremely clean for a cabin in the woods. There were no cobwebs and spiders in the cabin, which is something we've experienced in cabins like this one. We'd highly recommend this cabin!

The location was amazing with easy access to the park and great views of the lake/mountains. It was easy to go into Port Angeles for a meal or groceries. Outside of hiking and seeing the sites of Olympic National park our favorite part was jumping off the dock and swimming in the lake. Great place for families, would not recommend for anyone with mobility issues as the outdoor steps could be difficult for them.

Beautiful location and view from every window! This was a wonderful escape for our family (2 boys ages 12 & 14). Spent some time fishing on the dock (caught trout), enjoyed watching the clouds roll over the mountains from the living area, and cooked up breakfast and dinners in the week stocked kitchen. The beds and couch could certainly use an update, but everything else was a delight.

Great place with amazing views! The kitchen, bathroom, and deck have been beautifully updated. I enjoyed kayaking everyday the most, but be prepared for a steep hike down to the dock, and make sure you have 2 hands to help you get the kayaks back into the boathouse. The furniture and bedding could be updated, but were as expected. Central to many great nature spots (we visited Sol Duc Hot Springs and waterfall, Lake Crescent, Forks and La Push, Port Townsend, Marymere Falls, Hoh Rainforest, the Dungeness Refuge and the Spit, etc.)

Beautiful view, dock down at the water was a gorgeous spot to drink morning coffee on a crisp spring day. Nice location for activities. Easy 15 min to Port Angeles for dinner (basically the last town with food if you're going west) and just over an hour to Rialto Beach. Mount Storm King incredible hike just 10 min away. Perfect space for two of us. if you have three or four people, indoor couch and dining options would be less comfortable.

Nice spot but you absolutely need to be a nature lover to stay here. "Hikers Haven" because you hike up and down to get to it. Gorgeous lake view, enjoyed watching boaters etc

Hikers haven was a real nice get away from the city and work. You are so close to many Olympic National Park trail, waterfalls, and beautiful lakes. at the end of the day, you get to enjoy Lake Suthetland, enjoy the sun, and put in some time kayaking. We had a lot of fun.

Nice lakeside house with great views. Comfortable and warm and as described. Would definitely stay at again. Something to consider is that the wifi is a bit slow. Wasn't an issue for us but good to keep in mind should that be a requirement.

Great little cabin on Lake Sutherland. Gorgeous views with such a peaceful setting. Good base point for all things on the upper Olympic Peninsula. The place itself is a little small, but cozy. It was perfect for a little weekend getaway. Kitchen and bathroom are updated, nice, and had everything we needed for cooking. It is off the 101, but we couldn't hear any road noise inside the house. Would definitely stay here again.

What a wonderful place to stay. Hikers haven is in a secluded spot on Lake Sutherland and has a wonderful view of the lake to wake up to. The place feels loved and lived in which we absolutely adore. To the family who own the place we absolutely love your taste in decor. Also, a personal fun moment for me was finding a combination vhs and DVD player. Dont think Ive seen one of those before. Some things to keep in mind for this place are: 1) bring a flashlight. It gets dark; 2) we couldnt really rely on the internet connection. It was dead slow at times. Honestly this might just be because of the out of the way location and didnt bother us a lot; and 3) the lake is gorgeous and theres a little dock to get on the water. I low key regretted not bringing my kayak even though we visited in the winter at which time the water can be quite cold.

Cozy home, *gorgeous* view of the lake. We stayed here for a cold, wintery weekend and enjoyed just making food, relaxing on the couches, taking in the view. I imagine it's even more fun being able to hop into the water in the summer!

Cabin was clean and well furnished. The heat and supplemental space heaters warmed it right up, no need to bother with the wood fired stove if you don't want to. Host was very responsive and helped us find our way to the cabin in the dark and snow over the phone. Looking forward to coming back when it's warmer.

My stay at "Hiker's Haven" was absolutely divine. It's the perfect little cabin for a cozy getaway. The view out the front sunroom windows are incredible. The photos don't do it just justice. They offer a truly magical view to wake up to every morning and to spend the day with. I was so grateful for the lovely, well appointed kitchen, the wood stove to warm the space (there's a heater, too, but the wood stove is a delight on a cold winter day), and all of the beautiful, thoughtful art hanging throughout the cabin. It was amazing to have such incredible hikes just a 10 minute drive in either direction from the cabin, and I LOVED having kayaks available for use, and so enjoyed my time exploring the sweet little lake. This was the perfect place to spend my getaway, and comes highly recommend!!

We really had a good time, the heavy rains and river flooding/high tides didnt stop us from having fun. I really enjoy winter fishing all the rivers in forks (less then 1 hour from the cabin) with the rivers blown out we did a beach fire/pic nic on 3rd beach, used the cabin kayaks on Sutherland, and played a lot of card games with a great view of the lake!
